Submitting an entry to our competition


To submit an entry to a competition you must:



  1. first make an account as detailed at the bottom of this page,

  2. then navigate to the competion page and press the 'submit an entry' link.

Please read the guidelines below before submitting your work.

Format
Text should be in 12 point Ariel or Times New Roman, double-spaced.
You can submit Word or rtf documents or pdf files.

Heading     
Make sure your contribution has a title.

About you
Tell us about yourself in 30 words or less.

Standfirst
Please provide a brief summary of the plot or content – max 30 words.

Images
We like photos and illustrations to illustrate the entries, so do provide one if you can as a pdf file (keep it tasteful and relevant please!)

General notes
Check the spelling, grammar and punctuation before pressing 'send' please.



  • No profanity or phrasing likely to cause offence.

  • Please stick to the maximum word count.

  • One entry per competitor.

  • If you have problems email entries to bloc@8bitplateau.net

  • Entries to arrive on or before the advertised end date.

  • Entries must not have been previously published.

  • Copyright remains with the author, but authors agree to assign first publication rights to www.bloc-online.com

  • Current and previous MA Professional Writing students at UCF cannot win the competition – but do enter!

  • The decision of the judges is final and the organisers will not enter into any correspondence thereafter.

  • Entries not complying with the rules of the competition will be disqualified and the submission of any entry will be deemed to imply the unqualified acceptance of the rules of entry by the competitor.

  • Prizes are as stated and are not transferable.

  • Summer school prizes include tuition fees only. Accommodation, travel and living expenses are not included.

  • All references and images must be fully sourced and cited.

  • All copyrighted material must be approved for use before submission. Many thanks.

  • 1 Simply register here or follow the register links at the bottom or top of the page.

  • 2 Enter a username of your choice and a valid email address; you must also answer a security question.

  • 3 Check your e-mail for an activation message.

  • 4 Follow the link in the mail.

  • 5 You can then change your password and other details.
